April 3, 2016 Routes and trails in collaboration with Friends of Sardinia organize: TISCALI

From the nuraghic huts of Tiscali to the Cuili of Su Praicarzu.

the Supramonte of Oliena and Dorgali.

The hike is of low / medium difficulty, suitable for those who want to get closer to hiking. Through the excursion we will observe two living testimonies of Supramonte, a recent one, the Cuili, active until the years 50/60, a great examples of how men living in that area were able to adapt to difficult conditions; the other, more famous and certainly much more remote, it is charming the sinkhole of Tiscali.

The interest of the sinkhole Tiscali,  in addition to the remains of the huts (which are very few), regards its vegetation,  with trees and shrubs grown excessively as a result of a particular condition microclimate. Of course, the surrounding areas are the corollary

of both sites, with all the splendor of the limestone landscape and their beautiful vegetation (ilex trees and junipers, Mediterranean scrub and other various shrubs).

Estimated time for the excursion: 5-6 hours if we go to Su Praicargiu, 3 or 4 hours (without lunch break and visit to the site) if we visit only Tiscali. Depending of the conditions of the group the excursion can be shortened or extended.

To visit the Tiscali site a ticket must be paid at the entrance.

For those coming from Cagliari, the appointment is at 6.45 hours, leaving  at 7.00 from Piazza Matteotti at the corner with via Sassari.

For all other participants, the appointment is at 8.30 am at the petrol station of of Abbasanta on the SS 131. The drive from Abbasanta is expected in about one hour and a quarter of paved road and a quarter of an hour of bumpy road, still viable drive (except for some very low car).

Some notes: as for clothing it is recommended to dress in layers, trekking boot are highly recommended, alternatively athletic shoes with marked soles (not smooth); Even more important than food it is to make sure you bring plenty of water , soft drinks crisps or salty snacks should be avoided. We suggest you bring  a backpack and not a single sided type of bag. Packed lunch.
